Blue Reef Aquarium Bristol seeks IMAX 3D Cinema Projectionist 

Blue Reef Aquarium Bristol which includes an IMAX 3D Cinema is due to open its doors in October 2009 on the former Wildwalk Site. 
Both attractions are part of Blue Reef Leisure Ltd and are part of the ASPRO Ocio Group.

Aspro Ocio is a Spanish multinational company with its headquarters based in Madrid. Aspro operates water parks, theme parks and aquaria in Spain, France, Finland, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium Holland and here in the UK. The Aspro Group came into existence in 1991 and has experienced a fast and healthy development over the years, both organically and through acquisitions.

2008 has seen considerable growth in the UK with the recent Acquisitions of Oakwood Theme Park and Blue Reef Aquariums.  Aspro also owns and operates Deep Sea Leisure Plc consisting of two aquaria Blue Planet Aquarium and Deep Sea World.

An opportunity has arisen for you to become part of this successful organisation as an IMAX Projectionist.  Reporting to the Senior Projectionist you will ensure that the IMAX Cinema is presented to the highest standard, in good working order and is safe for staff and customers. 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Operating the IMAX Cinema projection system, consistently monitoring the quality of both the projected image and the sound ensuring that every show is delivered professionally and uninterrupted.

• Ensuring that the IMAX Cinema meets performance standards (including quality, safety and efficiency) as set by the IMAX Corporation and Senior Projectionist.

• Ensuring quality control, including maintaining all film prints and soundtracks in the best possible manner.

• Cleaning and general maintenance of the projection and sound systems.

• To assist the Senior Projectionist with the implementation of the Health and Safety procedures of the IMAX projection room, auditorium and associated plant and procedures.

• Assisting the Senior Projectionist, IMAX Corporation and other technical support personnel/engineers with the quarterly service routines and handling minor servicing problems.

• To be able to develop good working relationships with various internal departments at all levels.

Post Requirements:

• Requirement to lift and carry heavy reels of film - equipment to do this is provided.

• Experience in cinema projection is essential. IMAX projection experience is desirable.

• Over the age of 18 due to film classification laws.

• The successful candidate will operate on a shift pattern that will involve working unsociable hours and weekends.

Bristol Aquarium & IMAX Cinema seeks Finance Officer  

Bristol Aquarium and the IMAX Cinema is due to open its doors in Autumn 2009 on the former Wildwalk  Site.    Both attractions are part of Blue Reef Leisure Ltd and are part of the ASPRO Ocio Group.

An opportunity has arisen for you to become part of this successful team operating this unique attraction as a Finance Officer.  A shift system of working 4 days on, 4 days off will apply. 

The ideal candidate must have 1 year's previous experience of working in an accounts environment/cash office ideally within a customer-facing organisation.  Candidates should have accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to use initiative as essential skills as well as being self-motivated, a good communicator and able to work as part of a team.  Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office and be able to use Excel Spreadsheets and Outlook as part of their day-to-day duties. Experience of "SAGE" accountancy package would be an advantage.

Responsibilities will include:  

• Responsible for all cash office procedures and duties

• Safe and Secure handling of cash & floats

• Reconciling and inputting daily cash/sales journals onto Sage Accounts

• Inputting Blue Reef Bristol Purchase Ledger Invoices

• Producing Blue Reef Bristol Sales Ledger Invoices plus credit control of Bristol's debtors

• Other ad hoc duties when required particularly at quiet times

• General Office duties dealing with phone calls, bookings etc

DEEP SEA WORLD

Visitor Services Presenter

Deep Sea World, Scotland's National Aquarium has an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our Visitor Services Team as a full time presenter.

Are you efficient at working within a team, imaginative and have an enthusiasm for sea life?

You would be required to play an active role in the promotion of conservation of sea life through talks and presentations at Deep Sea World.  You would also have the opportunity to help with the development of our Education Programme.

1 position available, involves working mid week, can also include weekends and school holiday periods. Remuneration complies with National Minimum Wage.

Key Duties:

• To promote conservation through education

• To present all the Deep Sea World animals to our customers

• To provide world class customer service

Post Requirements:

·         A positive and enthusiastic nature

·         Experience working with members of the public

·         Experience in giving presentations would be preferred

·         Experience with aquatic animals, amphibians and reptiles are desirable but not essential.

Oakwood Visitor Services & Human Resources Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the managerial team at Oakwood Theme Park, a leading visitor attraction in South Wales.  Oakwood Leisure is part of the Aspro Group, one of the most successful leisure businesses in Western Europe running 7 attractions in the UK and over 30 attractions in Europe.
The responsibility of this position will be varied, challenging but extremely rewarding and is a chance to combine your HR skills alongside a passion for customer services.  As a Visitor Services Manager your purpose is to drive and deliver the Visitor Services strategy across Oakwood and to ensure an excellent visitor experience of the attraction.  You would also be responsible for the on site recruitment and training prior to the season starting, in liaison with central Human Resources and Departmental Managers, along with being the on site contact for central Human Resources, monitoring employee relations, absence and being a representative of HR Ethics.
You will need to think creatively and be able to lead and motivate employees, giving clear parameters of responsibility and encouraging teamwork and initiative.  We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated and have the vision to plan ahead. 
A HR background is essential and you should thrive in a busy customer facing environment. It would also be advantageous, although not essential for candidates to have previous experience within the leisure attraction. 
The post holder will be required to work full time, 5 days every week on a rota'd basis (including weekends).  The park operates on a seasonal basis but the winter months will be used for strategic and budgetary planning.

Deep Sea World is Scotland's National Aquarium based in North Queensferry, Fife.  We are part of the ASPRO Ocio Group. 

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of this successful company.  We now have a vacancy for a Diver / Instructor to join our Zoological Team.  Are you efficient at working within a team and imaginative?  Do you have an enthusiasm for teaching, and for animals and their conservation?  Then this is the job for you. The post is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join one of Scotland's most diverse dive teams!

Minimum Post Requirements:
. PADI Divemaster qualification or equivalent.
. Current HSE dive medical.
. A positive and enthusiastic nature.
. Customer service experience.

Desirable Requirements:
. PADI OWSI qualification.
. Experience teaching PADI's Discover Scuba programme.
. Experience with aquatic animals, amphibians and reptiles.

Blue Planet Dive Officer/Dive Instructor

Blue Planet Aquarium is a market leader visitor attraction and North West regional gem based in Cheshire and part of the ASPRO Ocio Group.
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part our successful Dive team.  We are looking to recruit a Dive Instructor / Dive Officer. The position is Full Time and will include some weekend and bank holiday work.
The ideal candidate will have considerable previous experience of working in a Dive site environment. Proven diver training experience in a customer focused dive environment is essential. Candidates should demonstrate awareness of health and safety Dive legislation, the ability to use initiative, self-motivation and be a good communicator. 
Responsibilities will include:
. Conduct and participate in all Dive activities including Aquatheatre shows, Sand  Tiger Shark Feeds and all Dive Courses
. Proactive selling and continued expansion of the range of Dive Courses offered through continuous  development and instigation of New BPA Dive Courses
. To assist the Zoological Manager to drive commercial performance of the BPA Dive operation by increasing turnover and maximising profitability
. To comply with Diving Health and Safety regulations
. To complete and regularly review Dive related risk assessments
. Assist the Dive Technician with the monitoring and repair of Dive Equipment and  demonstrate competency in Dive Equipment maintenance
. Assist the Zoological Manager to ensure a well maintained main Caribbean Reef tank  exhibit through regular and organised cleaning and maintenance

SEASONAL OPPORTUNITIES 

Seasonal opportunities exist to join our catering, retail, front of house team in both seasonal and management positions and we are looking for people who can deliver excellence in customer care and who would thrive in our unique environment that is challenging, varied but always fun!  Recruitment for these posts usually takes place from Easter each year.

We have many applications every year for positions within our marine care departments as aquarists.  Our aquarists have a hugely important role in both animal care and also caring for our visitor.  Only applicants that are able to demonstrate good people skills and passionate about education would be considered for positions at Blue Reef.  We would normally expect an aquarist to also have experience working with fish or qualifications in marine biology, zoology or animal care.  As always experience and enthusiasm may well counteract the need for formal qualifications.
